KOLKATA, 28 JULY: National General Secretary, Mr Abhishek Banerjee today declared after a disciplinary committee meeting that Partha Chatterjee has been suspended from all the five posts in the party with immediate effect. The suspension will continue till the investigation is completed.
Partha Chatterjee was the party’s national vice president, state secretary general, the party’s disciplinary committee member, and the editor of the party’s mouthpiece Jago Bangla. He has henceforth been removed from all five posts. “If he feels that he has done nothing wrong, he will have to prove it in the court of law,” said Mr Banerjee.
“We are unlike other political parties of India, jumping the gun and calling for the suspension of Partha Chatterjee. To them, I say within six days Trinamul Congress has acted. Show me any other political party which acted with such promptness,” he asked.
Mr Banerjee said that BJP leaders like Kuldeep Singh Sengar was only suspended after the Supreme Court’s verdict.
He also slammed the opposition leaders who pointed fingers at Ms Banerjee for sharing a stage with Partha Chatterjee and Arpita Mukherjee. Mr Banerjee said that she is not supposed to know anyone who comes to the stage posing for a photograph.
Mr Banerjee also added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also seen sharing the stage with scamster Nirav Modi.
“Trinamul Congress shows zero tolerance towards corruption and we will request the ED to probe the matter within a specified timeframe. It has been over eight years but no charge sheet has been filed let alone a trial in the Sarada scam case. Hence a time bound probe is a must,” Mr Banerjee said.
Mr Banerjee slammed the ED and said that they never produce a charge sheet in time because it is their tactic to harass the opposition leaders before the 2024 General Elections and the 2026 State Elections.
“We reiterate this again that those from Trinamul involved in any scam will be punished. But if someone thinks they can enter the washing machine (BJP) and become an honest man then we will ask the investigative agencies to work without any political colour.
