KRISHNAGAR, 18 APRIL: With the post poll violence continuing unabated in Nadia, a BJP worker was found dead in front of his house at Rautari under Chakdaha police station limits in Nadia today.
Police said the deceased has been identified as Dilip Kirtania (30). His body has been sent to the hospital for autopsy, a police official said.

The family members of the deceased alleged that the local Trinamul anchal president Dulal Karmakar had called him last night and took him away from his house. “We started searching for him when he didn’t return even late at night. This morning, his body was seen lying on the courtyard,” said a family member adding that later police reached the site and retrieved the body.
Tension gripped the locality soon after the death news spread. Local residents to protest against the incident raided the house of Dulal Karmakar and carried out ransacking.

Meanwhile, Dulal fled the area soon after the locals gheraoed his house. The agitating mob put up a roadblock on National Highway-12 and gheraoed the police station demanding immediate arrest of the culprits along with Dulal. The BJP workers also blocked the railway tracks at Palpara station for about 20 minutes to protest the incident.
Local residents said Dilip was an active BJP worker and yesterday on the poll day, he was involved in a scuffle with Dulal when he was monitoring the voters’ line outside booth number 211.

“During the confrontation, Dulal had threatened him with dire consequences. His body was found this morning. He was beaten up, strangulated and his secret part was found fractured. The miscreants brought wine and they took him to a nearby bamboo bush. The police recovered wine bottles and other materials from the site and it is assumed that the criminals had plan to kill him,” said Bankim Ghosh, a BJP candidate from Chakdaha.
TMC candidate Subhankar Singh, however, said Trinamul Congress is not involved with this incident. It could be the internal feuds within the BJP, he said.
Later, the BJP leaders Soumitra Khan and Biswapriya Roy Chowdhury visited the house of the deceased and talked with the bereaved family members. They also talked with police officials and demanded the arrest the culprits.
