KRISHNAGAR, 14 APRIL: Minakshi Mukherjee, a young Left leader who is the CPI-M’s bet in Nandigram against Mamata Banerjee and Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday campaigned for the Sanjukta Morcha candidate Silvi Saha in Krishnagar.
Before the rally, she held a roadshow where hundreds of Left and Congress workers took part in the roadshow.
The sight was unusual because the programme was conducted around noon under scorching sun.

Though, the moment her arrival was announced, the crowd started chanting “Comrade Minakshi Mukherjee laal salaam”. Youngsters with cell phones rushed to record her speech or click pictures.
The excitement around Minakshi is not a one-off case, said Rana Aich, a school teacher.
“A normal middle-class Bengali citizen still looks up to government jobs. In the last 10 years this area has gone for a toss. Even the private sector gives little employment opportunities in Bengal. As young Left candidates are talking about correcting the situation, many voters are connecting to that,” Aich said, adding that Minakshi also spoke without jargons that added to her appeal.
While speaking at the rally, Minakshi said, “For the last ten years, people have seen the politics of appeasement, donation and corruption. The ruling party has given money to the people for temporary relief, but they never resolved the basic problems and demands. We also do the politics but for the establishment of the peoples’ rights.”
In Krishnagar North seat, Silvi Saha is contesting against the ruling TMC candidate Kousani Mukherjee and the BJP leader Mukul Roy.
