KRISHNAGAR, 1 JUNE: In a significant development, Prof. Amalendu Bhunia, the distinguished dean of the Arts and Commerce faculty at Kalyani University, has been appointed as the interim vice-chancellor of the esteemed institution. The decision was made by Dr. C V Ananda Bose, the Governor and chancellor of the university, who issued an official order authorizing Prof. Bhunia to assume the responsibilities of the vice-chancellor until further notice.
The university had been functioning without a vice-chancellor for the past seven days since the tenure of Prof. Manas Kumar Sanyal, the former VC, came to an end on 27 May. The absence of a vice-chancellor had resulted in several official works being disrupted, causing concerns among faculty members, students, and staff.
Prof. Sujay Kumar Mandal, the director of the public relation cell of Kalyani University, acknowledged the challenges faced during this period and highlighted the adverse impact it had on the university’s day-to-day operations. However, the appointment of Prof. Bhunia as the interim VC is expected to restore normalcy and alleviate the issues faced by the institution.
Prof. Amalendu Bhunia brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the position. As the dean of the Arts and Commerce faculty, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep commitment to academic excellence.
