KOLKATA, 29 OCT: Trinamul Congress chief Mamata Banerjee today made it clear during a Press Conference and while meeting her Goa Trinamul party members that Goa should be ruled by the people of Goa and not by the Delhi.
She said, “Delhi ka Dadagiri nehi Chalega. Delhi should not rule Goa through remote control,” she made this very clear in her first meeting.
She said, “We want very strong federal structure. Goa is a potential state with sea, port, culture but at present people are very much neglected. The government is more interested in buying MLAs.
“I am already the chief Minister of West Bengal and I am not coming here to capture power but to lend support to my Goan brothers and sisters so that they can fight against this autocratic government.”
Like West Bengal, Goa too has 49% women voters so Mamata Banerjee said that have party will emphasize on women Trinamul Congress is the only party in Parliament which has 41% elected MPs.” Here too we will ensure women are given tickets for contesting for both Assembly and Parliament seats,” she said.
Miss Banerjee while talking to the party workers and later to Press about different beneficial schemes that she is running in West Bengal right from Duare Sarkar to Kanyashree, Sabuj Sathi, Rupashree, free ration, free treatment and education in government run hospitals and educational institutions. She said some of her schemes also received UNESCO prizes. She asked her party members whether BJP government in Goa have any such schemes like free health care and education?
She also blames Congress for letting down the people of Goa in 2017, when they have a clear mandate. She said Congress got so many years but why don’t they do anything for the betterment for the people of Goa.
She said like Bengal people of Goa also loves fish, football and very proud of their culture and heritage.” I want Goans should uphold their culture and heritage.
Miss Banerjee visited Malim jetty in Betim to meet the fishermen folk making four promises to the fishing community in Goa if her party voted to power in 2022.
She interacted with the fishing community at Malim Jetty in Betim in Goa today and listened to their grievances after which she announced a slew of welfare measures. She was accompanied by Goa Trinamool Congres leaders including party’s national vice president Luizinho Faleiro,
Yatish Naik amongst others.
Addressing a huge crowd, AITC Chairperson said, ‘Goa TMC will protect the lives and livelihood of the fishing community.’
She said if Trinamul Congress voted to power, “Goa Trinamul Congress will increase the subsidy by 2.5 times, from Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 75,000. She also said, “Our MSP is not minimum support price but maximum selling price at which fish will be procured by the government.
She also declared an allowance of Rs.4000 per month for all men & women engaged in fishing activities. Subsidies for purchasing and repair of fishing nets and accessories will also be introduced. Further, a Fishermen’s Welfare Board will be formed.
“Goans will have the first right on Goan fish. Goa TMC will sternly implement the ban on bull trawling and LED fishing,” she declared.
She stated TMC stands for Temple, Mosque and Church. “We are all here to spread communal harmony among the people of Goa against any divisive forces.”
Asked why Trinamul Congress came to Goa, Miss Banerjee said “It’s a democratic party, any political party can come to Goa or any Indian state. Many political parties contested West Bengal Assembly poll we did not object.”
Miss Banerjee said, this time I came for political reasons but earlier as a Railway minister I came to inaugurate International Film Festival in Goa and again as a railway minister I went to Goa to meet the Konkani Rail officials.”
She also lashed out at the BJP and said, “BJP is nobody to give me advice on my religion, I’m a proud Hindu.”
