NEW DELHI, 7 MARCH: Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Farhan Al-Saud has emphasized the importance of the country’s relationship with India, stating that it is a “top priority”. Speaking in an interview with President of Observer Research Foundation (ORF) Samir Saran at Raisina ‘Ideas Pod’, Al-Saud said that measurable progress is needed in all sectors, particularly in the economic and trade relationship between the two countries.
Al-Saud highlighted the strong working relationship between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, both of whom are result-oriented and want to see progress in their countries’ relationship. He praised India’s rising global stature and potential, calling it a “fantastically dynamic country” with almost unmeasurable potential.
The Saudi Foreign Minister acknowledged India’s important role in the Kingdom’s developmental journey, given the large Indian diaspora in Saudi Arabia and the longstanding trade relationship between the two countries. He also noted India’s potential as a trade partner, with a large amount of its trade to Europe passing through the Red Sea.
Saudi Arabia is India’s most important energy partner for traditional energies, and Al-Saud stated that the two countries are looking to continue this partnership into the renewable era.
Earlier, Saleh Eid Al Husseini, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to India, expressed his desire to bring the relationship between the two countries to the highest level possible. Speaking on the occasion of the Kingdom’s founding day, Husseini emphasized the Kingdom’s governance and its focus on the next generation.
The envoy stated that the celebrations reflect good governance and equity, with a focus on the prosperity of the Saudi people, modernization, and the preservation of the country’s culture. He added that the Kingdom’s longevity is a reflection of its care for its neighbors, people, and its pursuit of peace around the world.
The strong relationship between Saudi Arabia and India is expected to continue to grow, with both countries looking to build on their existing connection for the benefit of their own citizens and the international community.
