KRISHNAGAR, 4 DEC: Shib Nath Choudhury, chairman of Nadia District Central Co-operative Bank Ltd has been awarded as the best co-operative bank chairman in the country for his outstanding performance in the field of co-operative bank development and for the progress of the nation.
Promoting Achievements Foundation has bestowed him with the best chairman performance award and medal on the occasion of the National seminar –Individual Achievements Intellectual Excellence and National Development held on 2 December in New Delhi.
While speaking about his award, Mr Choudhury said, “It was my memorable day when I received the best performance award in presence of Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prakash Kumar and other notable dignitaries. Among 24 states, I was selected for best performance in the field co-operative bank development.”
Mr Choudhury also said that his bank has already been bagged several national and state-level awards from NABARD and state government. This year, his bank has bagged a blue ribbon award from Nabard for outstanding performance in the field of Self Help Group (SHG) and farming sector in Nadia.
While briefing about the performance of Nadia Central Co-operative Bank, Mr Choudhury said, “Our bank has bagged the best award from Nabard among 370 co-operative banks in India. We have disbursed 1.31 lakh Krishan Credit cards to the farmers last year while all banks in Nadia collectively could not disburse such a huge number of Krishan Credit Cards to the farmers. We have disbursed around Rs 526 crore to the farmers and Rs 385 crore to the SHG members as loan last year and collection rate in both sectors was nearly 92%.”
