KRISHNAGAR, 9 APRIL: Special Protection Group (SPG), an elite Central armed force, has taken over security at the helipad, public meeting venue at Krishnagar Government College ground in Krishnagar a day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s election rally here today.
As PM Modi is scheduled to arrive here around 3.30 pm, the SPG team, which provides proximate security to the Prime Minister, has brought the venues under its security cover.
Official and police sources said one Deputy Inspector General (DIG), SPG, who arrived here on Wednesday, heading a 23-member team, inspected the places along with SP, Krishnagar Police District, Biswajit Ghosh before posting his men at the venues.
The BJP candidate Mukul Roy has also paid his visit to take stock of the preparation.
