Suvendu demands Mukul’s resignation as MLA

KOLKATA, 18 JUNE: Leader of the Opposition, Suvendu Adhikary today appealed to the Speaker Biman Banerjee to disqualify Mukul Roy.

Mr Adhikary has sent a petition to the Speaker requesting him to disqualify Mukul Roy as Krishnanagar (North) MLA as he defected to Trinamul Congress. Mr Roy won the election in a BJP ticket.

Trinamul Rajya Sabha MP Sukhendu Shekhar Roy today said,

“The Leader of The Opposition has submitted a letter to the Speaker. Now it is for the Speaker to take action.”

However, he said, “Trinamul Congress Lok Sabha MP and leader of the Parliamentary Party  also sent letters and even called OM Birla, Speaker Lok Sabha urging him to disqualify Sisir Adhikary and Sunil Mondal, two MPs who won in Trinamul tickets from Contai and Burdwan (Rural).”

Mr Roy also said, “A close associate of Suvendu Adhikary,Rakhal Beds was arrested by police  for taking bribe while promising people to provide them Group D job at irrigation department when Suvendu Adhikary was the then irrigation minister.”

Mr Roy also alleged that cases against Adhikary brothers and henchmen were also lodged at Contai police station in charge of stealing a truck of tarpaulins worth few lakhs.
