NEW DELHI, 9 JUNE: A day after meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party national president JP Nadda, leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly and BJP MLA from Nandigram Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speak about post-poll violence in West Bengal.
After the meeting with PM Modi, he said, “I met PM Modi, JP Nadda Ji and briefed them on the current situation in West Bengal. More than 40 BJP workers were murdered in the state. This violence in the State should end.”
He also told PM Modi that how BJP workers are living in fear. While several party workers have left Bengal and are now residing in Assam due to fear.
According to sources, not just post-poll violence also future party programs were chalked out in the meeting.
The sources also added highlighting a woman face to tackle women Chief Minister was also discussed.
“In order to counter Mamata Banerjee need of a woman face in the saffron camp was discussed and also implementation of Article 356 and ways to stop defection back to the ruling party was also held in the meeting,” sources said.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleged that several of its party workers have been killed in the violence. However, the ruling Trinamul Congress (TMC) has denied the allegations.
The state government, on 25 May, had informed the Supreme Court that three people have been arrested in connection with the alleged killing of two BJP workers in post-election violence on May 2 in the state.
After the meeting with the Prime Minister, Suvendu held a meeting with three BJP MPs Nisith Pramanick, Arjun Singh and Saumitra Khan who earlier this day went to the national capital.
According to sources, the three BJP MPs from West Bengal along with BJP MLA and Leader of Opposition Suvendu also held a closed-door meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
