After spotting the spider at a corner in her house, Mrs Dutta asked her son who later kept it in a poly-jar. On hearing the news, a forest department official reached there and recovered the spider.

According to forest official, the recovered spider is one of the most popular arboreal tarantulas. The common name of this spider is Indian Ornamental tree spider.

In the wild individuals live in holes in tall trees where they make asymmetric funnel webs. Their primary prey consists of various flying insects, which they seize in flight and paralyze. It is not unknown for the spiders of this genus to live communally when territory, i.e. the number of holes per tree, is limited. They tend to be quite defensive spiders.

The bites of the Indian ornamental tree spider can be highly painful because of the Indian ornamental tarantula venom. This spider tends to attack when it is cornered. Its large tentacles can lead to puncture wounds which can cause other infections if it is not medically treated.

There have been no deaths or cases of anaphylactic shocks reported from the venom of this spider.
