Like other municipalities, the administration conveyed the oath taking ceremony of winning councilors of Santipur municipality today. After forming the board, when the president of the meeting called to propose the name of the chairman, the name of Subroto Ghosh, party’s nominated chairman was proposed, but Brindaban Pramanik wished to contest against Subroto Ghsoh. The house then called for vote and it was claimed that Subroto Ghosh won the contest by 12-10 votes.

Brindaban Pramanik alleged that he won the contest by 12-10 votes as two BJP candidates favoured him, but it was not forcibly ignored.

Santipur municipality has 22 seats. TMC won 20 seats while BJP got two seats. During selection of chairmanship, TMC grouped into two and ten winning candidates went in favour of Brindaban Pramanik.

Later, TMC MLA from Santipur, Braja Kishore Goswami lodged a complaint with the party’s state committee and the party, based on this fact expelled Pramanik due to his anti-party activities.
