KOLKATA, 25 SEP: Trinamul Congress Rajya Sabha MP and party’s national spokesperson Dereck O’Brien and Lok Sabha MP from Howrah, Prasun Banerjee went to Goa to start its party unit there.
Poll strategist Prashant Kishor’s I-PAC also reached Goa to survey the possibilities of the party to win in the next Assembly poll due next year.
The MPs will reportedly meet the important people of the land and will listen to their grievances.
In 2017, Congress did quite well but BJP managed to come to power after some Congress MLAs defected to BJP.
The chief minister in her election meeting at Bhawanipore said, “We (read Trinamul Congress) will set up its units in Tripura, Goa, UP and other BJP-run states.”
Earlier, Àbhishek Banerjee after assuming the post of national general secretary, told the reporters, “from now on we will only visit those states where we will win. This time we will not stop short of winning more or two Assembly seats but win the whole state.”
Meanwhile, he visited Tripura twice and was supposed to hold a political rally on 22 September but the Biplab Deb’s government has clamped section 144 in entire Tripura.
Trinamul chief Mamata Banerjee said,”by imposing section 144 BJP government is not allowing Bengalis to hold Durga Puja, Kali Puja and Chhat Puja.”
