KRISHNAGAR, 10 JULY: The Nadia district Trinamul Congress workers on Saturday staged a protest agitation against the spiraling fuel prices that are causing hardship for the common people amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
The programme was arranged at Post Office More in Krishnagar where several leaders including the party’s district president Mahua Moitra attended.
Speaking at the programme, the party’s MP from Krishnagar Mahua Moitra said, “Petrol is retailing at over Rs 101 per litre and diesel at more than Rs 92 in Bengal, while domestic LPG touched Rs 861 per cylinder. Many families are struggling hard to run their families because of high prices of gas and fuel. But, the Modi-led government is reluctant to address the situation. Instead of speaking any, the Centre is focusing on Covid only and they are claiming they have crossed the target.”
Ms Moitra also said, “When people are suffering a lot, Modiji’s approval rating is high. Till now around 60 percent people are favouring Modiji. But, Bengal people have shown how to explode the Modiji’s hot air filled balloon in the assembly polls. And I believe that Bengal people will show the way before the rest of the Indian people ahead of the next parliamentary polls in 2024.”
She further said that the party has organized the programme across the state to make the people aware about the Modi-led government’s misrules.
