KOLKATA, 13 APRIL: Trinamul Congress Rajya Sabha MP and party’s spokesperson Sukhendu Shekhar Roy today lashed out at the BJP for politicising a henious crime like rape and murder of a minor girl.
He condemned the rape and murder of a minor girl at Hanshkhali in Nadia district.
Mr Roy said, “We condemn the henious crime and our state police had already arrested the prime accused. But the High Court had ordered for CBI probe and I hope CBI will expedite the investigation and the accused will be brought to book quickly.”
Mr Roy alleged, “CBI’s track record in investigating important cases is quite failure. So many years have passed but CBI failed to unearth Rabindranath Tagore’s Nobel prize theft case. Netai mayssacre took place in 2007 and had 116 witnesses but till date CBI could only interrogate 26 witnesses.”
He said it means CBI would require 50 more years to complete investigation of Netai case when most of the accused and witnesses would pass away.
He also said till date CBI failed to arrest Kim Davis in Purulia arms drop case which took place in December 1995.
Mr Roy lashed out at BJP’s fact finding team that will go to Hanshkhali and said, “A party rejected by people of Bengal not only in Assembly poll but also in municipal polls has set up a fact finding committee to prove its presence in Bengal.
BJP is a dwindling political party in Bengal and a political party has no authority to investigate.
“Recently we have been watching that after any incident media trial is taking place. The BJP leaders here are asking the CBI officers to arrest Trinamul leaders and influencing the process of investigation,” he alleged.
He also said, “We did not notice any fact finding committee of BJP for Lakhimpur Kheri, Hathras and Unnao cases.”
He also said that the state government is helping CBI in its investigation.
