KRISHNAGAR, 27 MAY: In a bid to tide over blood shortage during scorching summer, Traffic police under Krishnagar Police District today arranged a blood donation camp under the banner of ‘Utsarga’ and donated 35 units of blood.
Ishani Paul, SP, Krishnagar PD said, “There has been a gap between demand and supply of blood during summer because collections from blood donation camps are low. People normally stay away from donating blood this time. However, it was officers and men of West Bengal Police who came forward at the call of Chief Minister to deal with the short supply of blood during scorching summer. Different police stations under Krishnagar PD are also organising blood donation camps at regular intervals and today Traffic police and Civic Volunteers donated 35 units of blood.”
As a part of state-wide blood-donation initiative under ‘Utsarga’ project, Nakashipara police have already donated 83 units of blood, Krishnaganj and Thanarpara police donated 130 units and Kotwali police donated 40 units of blood in the last few days.
