KOLKATA, 29 JAN: The organisational election of Trinamul Congress is likely to be held at Netaji Indoor stadium on 2 February. The election will be held after a gap of five years due to the restriction for pandemic situation.
Party sources said the election of party chairperson and other organisational posts will be held and party’s secretary general Partha Chatterjee will be the presiding officer. Till 2017, Mr Mukul Roy, the then party’s all India general secretary used to conduct the organisational polls.
It is learnt that party’s chair person Mamata Banerjee will be the candidate herself.
However, Miss Banerjee declared that she should form a committee where MLAs, shabhadhipatis and other office bearers can lodge their complaints against someone in the party against whose they have grievances. In order to establish strict discipline in the party, she said that no leader whether an MP or MLA must not speak in public or divulge party secrets in media.
For MPs, she had asked all MPs to report to Trinamul Lok Sabha leader, Sudip Bandopadhyay if they had any grievances against anyone. This was the obvious references to the recent row between Sreerampore MP Kalyan Bandopadhyay and party’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee after he declared that in his own constituency Diamond Harbour, no religious and political events should take place at least for two months. MP like Aparupa Poddar made harsh remarks against Kalyan Banerjee to the media and even said that he should be removed from the chief whip post of Lok Sabha. Miss Banerjee later pulled up Aparupa Poddar against such remark in the media.
