NEW DELHI, 6 JULY: The Union Budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 will be presented in the Lok Sabha on July 23, 2024, as announced by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Rijiju stated, “Hon’ble President of India, on the recommendation of Government of India, has approved the proposal for summoning of both the Houses of Parliament for the Budget Session, 2024 from 22nd July, 2024 to 12th August, 2024 (Subject to exigencies of Parliamentary Business). Union Budget, 2024-25 will be presented in Lok Sabha on 23rd July, 2024.”
This announcement sets the stage for the annual financial blueprint, which is eagerly awaited by all sectors of the economy. The budget session will begin on July 22 and is expected to conclude on August 12, subject to parliamentary business requirements.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had previously presented an Interim Union Budget for 2024-25 on February 1st, ahead of the general elections for the 18th Lok Sabha, which were held in April-May. The Interim Budget Session commenced with President Droupadi Murmu’s address to a joint sitting of Parliament on January 31 and concluded on February 10.
The upcoming budget session will be crucial for the government as it aims to address economic challenges and set the financial agenda for the year ahead. The budget will likely include key policy measures and financial allocations to boost various sectors and drive economic growth.
