KRISHNAGAR, 3 JULY: The WBCS (Exe) Officers’ Association, Nadia unit on Saturday organised a blood donation camp to help tide over the crisis.
The camp was arranged at Rabindra Bhawan in Krishnagar, Nadia where a total of 174 persons including a considerable number of WBCS officers donated blood. On the Doctors’ Day, a similar camp was organized at Tehatta where 51 persons including some officers donated blood.
Inaugurating the camp at Rabindra Bhawan, District Magistrate, Shashank Sethi thanked the officers of the association for coming forward to help the society by donating blood during this crisis time. “We are all frontline workers to contain the pandemic situation, but I specially thanked the Association for arranging such a camp for noble cause,” Mr Sethi said.
Honouring the noble cause of donating blood, Tenzi Choden Verma Nee Bhutia, Additional District Magistrate (development) and president of the association said, “Voluntary blood donation is undoubtedly, the highest form of humanitarian service as it is done without expectation of even knowing who it will help. There is a higher altruistic thought that motivates such action.”
During the inaugural programme, the officers remembered the colleagues who have lost their lives due to infliction of coronavirus. They also paid tribute to the dedication, professionalism and passion each individual brought to their role during the pandemic situation.
Biswajit Dhang, OC, Health anchored the programme before donating blood while Krishnava Ghosh, Additional District Magistrate (Zilla-Parishad) went first to donate blood in the camp.
