KRISHNAGAR, 9 APRIL: The body of a housewife, who died about five months ago, was exhumed from the graveyard by the Kaliganj police in Nadia for forensic examination, today.
Police said Janifa Khatun of Janakinagar in Kaliganj police station limits died in December last year. Her family members lodged a complaint alleging that she was killed by her in-laws. Accordingly, police initiated a case and based on court order, they exhumed the body from the graveyard at Palashi Natunpara for forensic examination, a police officer said.
According to family members, Janifa married to one Sujauddin Sheikh of Palshi Natunpara. But, she died in December last year.
The family members of Sujauddin Sheikh alleged that soon after the death of Janifa, her family members started demanding of Rs 12 lakh. “Since, we are unable to pay such a huge amount to them, they lodged a complaint with the police against us,” a family member of Sujauddin said.
