Woman’s half-naked body recovered under mysterious circumstances at Pingla, police arrest the accused within six hours

MIDNAPORE, 21 APRIL: Police recovered a half-naked body of a housewife lying on the field near a pond at Ujaan village of Jamna-II block under Pingla police station limits in West Midnapore triggering a sensation among the local residents on Wednesday.

Local residents claimed that the woman was raped before she was brutally killed by the assailant.

The Pingla police, however, arrested a man named Ranjan Singh, a resident of Ujaan village within six hours following the recovery and “We have arrested the man based on specific evidences. But, it has not been ascertained whether the woman was raped before being murdered,” said Dinesh Kumar, Superintendent of Police, West Midnapore.

According to the locals, the woman was missing since Tuesday night as she didn’t return home after completing her job. Her family members carried out search for her but whenever she didn’t return in the night; they planned to lodge a missing diary with the police.

Before going to lodge a missing diary, locals found her half-naked body lying on the ground near a pond in the village. They immediately informed the police who retrieved the body and sent it to the hospital for autopsy.

Pingla police then initiated a probe into this matter and arrested Ranjan Singh. Police said the accused was known to the victim because he used to do same job along with the victim.
