KOLKATA, 15 MARCH: Yaswant Sinha, former Indian finance and External Affairs minister who joined Trinamul Congress on Saturday was incorporated today in the highest decision making body of Trinamul Congress.
He has been appointed as the Vice President of the Mamata Banerjee-led party. The former union minister has also been made a member of the TMC national working committee as per the order issued on Monday by TMC General Secretary Subrata Bakshi.
On 13 March, Sinha joined the TMC in Kolkata ahead of the state Assembly polls.
Meanwhile, Trinamul Rajya Sabha MP and party’s national spokesperson, Derek O’Brien, today lashed out at Amit Shah for making false statements against Trinamul Congress.
He said 116 of 303 MPs of BJP in Lok Sabha have criminal records but union Home minister again dished out lies calling Bengal is a hot spot of political violence.
Mr O’Brien pointed out that as per National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) there was only one political murder during 2016 Assembly poll, but the union home minister chose to contradict NCRB’s report and said there was 36 political murder in 2016.
