BURDWAN, 6 APRIL: A youth denied by a girl first made a video call to the girl’s number and then hanged self, which sparked off sensation in Kanchannagar locality in Burdwan town today.
Sajal Goswami (28) – the youth was an employee of a cell phone outlet at a shopping plaza in Burdwan town. The police said that he’d fallen in love with a girl from neighbouring Padmapukur locality. The girl however denied his proposal.
In the small hours, he made a video call to the girl’s number. The girl told police that the youth suddenly hanged self from a bamboo structure leavinh the girl on the other side helpless. The matter was informed to the police shortly but Sajal had died by the time.
The body was recovered and sent for postmortem by the local police. The police meanwhile was yet to retrieve whether the girl had made any provocative remarks to the youth. A police officer said: “Had there been really ‘nothing’ then why did the girl pick up the phone in the odd small hours? We shall quizz the girl and also examine her phone records.”
