KRISHNAGAR, 9 AUG: In a swift and courageous operation, the Chakdah police successfully thwarted an attempted kidnapping near Senco Gold shop on Chakdah Station Road tonight. At approximately 9:30 pm, the police, who were on routine anti-crime duty in the area, responded to distress calls emanating from a Maruti van.
The police personnel immediately pursued the vehicle, engaging in a high-speed chase that spanned about 3.5 kilometers along Chakdah-Bongaon Road. Their quick response and determination led to the vehicle being intercepted, preventing what could have been a tragic outcome.
The police were able to rescue the victim, identified as Tapas Ghosh from Ghetugachhi GP. Ghosh, who was found unharmed, expressed his relief and gratitude for the prompt action taken by the police.
Four suspects were apprehended on the spot. Initial investigations suggest that the incident stemmed from a monetary dispute, though further inquiries are ongoing. The police have initiated legal proceedings against the four individuals involved.
