She said, “He and Modiji both are elected by the votes of those people whom he was talking of giving citizenship. If they are not citizens how they have voted and some of them even elected as MLAs or MPs.”

Miss Banerjee lashed out at Mr Shah asking him to shun divisive politics. On the question of cut money, Trinamul Congress chairperson stated, “Every day they are increasing the fuel prices and cooking gas prices and who is receiving that cut money?” She said for past nine years the Centre has collected more than Rs 17 lakh crore only from fuel hike? I want to ask who are enjoying such cut money?” she retorted.

While reacting to Mr Shah’s remarks on the law and order situation of the state, Miss Banerjee said at afunction at Netazi Indoor Stadium, “It is not right to malign everyone. In a state with a population of 110 million, if five incidents take place, I would be happy if you condemn those five incidents and demand that the guilty be hanged. But it is not right to put everyone on the dock. It hurts me if anyone says don’t go to Bengal, you may be murdered. West Bengal is better than any other state.”

The TMC supremo also upped her ante against the BJP while citing incidents of crime against women in states like Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

“In Uttar Pradesh if a woman goes to seek justice, she would be victimised once again by the police. I hope no one would dare to do this in West Bengal. If that happens, I would be the worst and strictest person. I don’t even spare my party workers if found guilty. I order the police to arrest them,” she said.

Coming down heavily on BJP, Miss Banerjee said, “BJP is nothing but a ‘B’ team of CPI-M. They want to divide Bengal, but that will never happen. By talking about a separate state for North Bengal, they want to divorce North Bengal with the rest of Bengal. That will never happen.”

She said, “What has Amit Shah done as a Union Home Minister that we can appreciate? Apart from targeting opposition leaders through agencies like CBI, ED and Income Tax, he has done nothing else. I have regards for Amit Shah as the Home Minister, but don’t guide me and don’t ask the BSF to overrule the State. It’s your duty to see to prevent cow smuggling and infiltration to ensure that peace is maintained at the borders. Don’t do things to bulldoze the democratic structure of the country. Don’t play with fire, the people will retaliate by giving a befitting reply.”

Miss Banerjee while reacting to a question in the Press Conference, said, “Opposition unity depends upon the situation. I do not think the opportunity is lost. Good things will come together and we will fight the battle together. BJP will not return to power in 2024, I can assure you this.” She said Trinamul Congress does not want to curb the rights of any citizens, we believe, as Swami Vivekananda said, that unity is our strength.

She said, “Earlier during the state polls last year, BJP leaders went on harping that Trinamul is not allowing Durga Puja in the State. Well, if we didn’t allow Durga Puja, then how did we get the UNESCO tag?  The UNESCO tag was achieved due to sustained effort by the State government and the never-ending efforts of the various puja committees across the State.”

During her state committee meeting, she said, “There will be overhauling of state committee to block committees, frontal Committees. Till 20 May we are going to receive suggestions from party members at different level and then will reshuffle all the committees.”

To commemorate 5 May – the day when she took oath last year for her third term as chief minister, she said all her departments will showcase a month long exhibition of their achievements in past 11 years.

Miss Banerjee said on 10 May, she will hold administrative meeting at West Midnapore and on 11May she will hold a public meeting in the district and on the same day will go to Jhargram and will hold administrative meeting. She will hold public meeting at Jhargram on 12 May.
