Youth-led vision for developed India discussed at Asannagar college

KRISHNAGAR, 21 DEC: An awareness and interaction programme titled ‘Vikshit Bharat Yuva Connect’ was organised at Asannagar Madan Mohan Tarkalankar College under the directives of the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, with financial support from the District Youth Office. Held under the initiative of the college’s NSS Unit, the programme sought to sensitise students to the role of youth in India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.

The discussion featured Mr Sailesh Kumar Rai, Youth Officer, RD NSS Kolkata, Rizwi Shahnaz Rahman, District Youth Officer, MY Bharat, Nadia, and Mr Suraz Debnath as resource persons. The programme was coordinated by Dr Mahaprasad Ghosh, Programme Officer of the NSS Unit.

In his inaugural address, college principal Dr Ashok Kumar Das observed that although India is currently categorised as a developing nation, the government’s long-term vision of achieving developed nation status by 2047 was both ambitious and commendable. Dr Rezwan Ahmed, coordinator of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, highlighted the need for comprehensive development of the country’s youth as a prerequisite for sustained national progress.

The speakers emphasised the importance of nurturing Indian culture and heritage alongside technological advancement, economic self-reliance and intellectual growth. They also underlined the role of skill development, leadership training, community service, policy awareness and personality development in empowering young citizens.

In the concluding session, Dr Biswajit Poddar of the Bengali department stressed the need to encourage creativity, civic responsibility, community initiatives and experiential learning among youth as part of sustainable development. Mr Suraz Debnath, through a PowerPoint presentation, highlighted India’s progress across various sectors in recent years and expressed confidence that with a focused approach and active youth participation, the goal of a developed India was achievable.

Participants noted that such awareness programmes could provide meaningful direction to the younger generation and inspire them to align their personal aspirations with the broader objectives of national development.
