Trinamul Congress announces its state committee for Tripura

KOLKATA, 29 APRIL: Eyeing at 2023 Assembly poll, Trinamul Congress today announced a 132-member state committee for Tripura. The most interesting part of the state committee is former West Bengal minister from Bally, Howrah is made state-in-charge of Tripura.

While former Bengal legislator Rajib Banerjee will continue as the State-in-Charge of Tripura, Subal Bhowmik has been appointed as the state president.

The six-member core committee, meanwhile, includes Sushmita Dev, Ashish Das, Bhriguram Reang, Ashish Lal Singh, Mamon Khan and Subal Bhowmik himself.

To address the women-centric issues of the state, the committee includes 27 women members.

For the upliftment of the backward classes, the party has incorporated 16 scheduled caste members, 18 members from the scheduled tribes and 32 representatives from the OBC groups in the state committee.

Trinamul’s newly-formed committee for Tripura also includes 14 representatives from the Muslim community.

In addition to the above mentioned core committee members, all frontal state presidents will act as ex-officio members of the core committee.

The 132-member State Committee has eight vice-presidents, five general secretaries, 14 secretaries, seven joint secretaries and 72 executive members.

Also announced on Friday was the formation of the Trinamul Youth Congress, which is headed by TMYC state president Santanu Saha. The women wing of Trinamul Congress is headed by Panna Deb, the women state president of Tripura Trinamul Congress.

AITC also announced the Tripura SC Cell and the ST Cell, headed by Sanjoy Kumar Das and Malin Jamatia, respectively.
